Caroline Frankenstein is a minor character in Season 1 of Showtime's Penny Dreadful, and the mother of Victor Frankenstein. While her presence within the series has been brief, it has also provided a fundamental part of Victor's past history and provides the motivation behind his obsession with life and death.
